Gallery 137 was proud to host a national painting competition with selected artwork on display through May 19.
The competition was judged by well-known painter, Scott Prior, and offered a $1,000 prize. The deadline for entries was February 23, 2007. Thank you to all who participated! Congratulations to grand prize winner, Chris Cooper, and runners-up Joseph Miller and Jun-Cheng Liu.
Gallery 137 1st Annual Juried MEMBERS ONLY SHOW
July 26 - August 30, 2008
We invite all of our artist members to participate. If you are not already an artist member, this is a great time to join! An Artist’s membership to Gallery 137 is $50.00 per year. Please print and submit the Annual Members Only Juried Show entry form as well as the Artist's Membership form to Gallery 137.
All entries will initially be exhibited at the Dane Gallery from July 26 to July 30. Prizes will be awarded for: Best in show, $500.00; 2nd place, $250.00; 3rd place, $150.00. Multiple honorable mentions will be given in all categories. These selected works will be displayed in Gallery 137 from August 1 through 30. The other pieces will remain on display at the Dane Gallery until August 30. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 1 to 3 at the Dane Gallery. The prizes will be presented at Gallery 137’s awards reception the following Saturday, August 2, from 3 to 5 p.m.
We are pleased to announce that Gloria Russell, Larry Slezak, and Bill Myers will serve as jurors.
No work previously shown at Gallery 137 may be entered. Each Gallery 137 artist member may submit one entry at no charge. Up to two additional works may be submitted for $20 per piece. All entries must be original art. No reproductions will be permitted. Artwork may not exceed 40” by 60” and must be suitably prepared for exhibition.
Artwork should be delivered to the Dane Gallery in the Indian Orchard Mills, at 34 Front Street in Indian Orchard. Deliveries of work can be made to the Dane Gallery on Sunday, July 20 from noon to 4 p.m. or Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. Pick up on August 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the gallery where your work is displayed. The Gallery 137 show will be publicized in Preview Magazine, The Art Guide, and all local
calendars. It will also be featured on our website. Gallery 137 will design, produce, and mail postcards to our extensive list. Extras will be available for each artist.
