As of June 30, 2008, our grant-funded children's art education and outreach program at Gallery 137 has come to a close. We would like to thank our patrons, students, parents, community and MassMutual Financial for their generous one-year funding which helped to increase arts programming in the community and classrooms of Indian Orchard. Our mission to strengthen the community through arts accessibility has not changed, although our Saturday art class for children and public school outreach program has been successfully completed. In the course of a year, we have provided over 400 public school students within the community an opportunity to exhibit artwork in a real gallery setting, work with new materials and techniques, and enrich their academic experience by utilizing new concepts with Visual Thinking Strategies.

Through a generous grant funded by our new neighbors and friends at Hampden Bank, we have been able to secure funding for a three-year art education program to be held at the Indian Orchard Branch Library, located at 44 Oak Street. This funding will continue to enable the support of art education and enrichment in the community. We encourage you to support local art programming at Gallery 137 and within the city of Springfield, and appreciate your efforts to make Indian Orchard the vibrant arts community that it should and will continue to be.

Best regards,

Merrilee Aurora Hale
